Innovation and Sustainability a Focus for UK Lab Show

Aug 19 2022

As a major trade exhibition for the laboratory industry, this year’s Lab Innovations will draw together leading professionals, scientists and research communities, with a focus on driving innovation and sustainability. Taking place on November 2-3 at the NEC Birmingham, 2022 will be the tenth show for organisers Easyfairs, who said special celebrations will provide visitors with extra networking opportunities as well as the chance to discover the latest innovations and source products.

This year’s Sustainable Laboratory showcase promises to be bigger than ever; with a focus on carbon and carbon equivalent emissions, visitors can learn from case studies and audits from a series of leading UK laboratories and service providers.

“Lab Innovations is a great opportunity for end users to see how our equipment works in a real laboratory environment and how the data we’ve collected can be replicated in their own labs to help them to be more sustainable,” explained Andy Evans, director at Green Light Labs and host of Lab Innovations’ Sustainable Laboratory.

Attendees at the show can also take advantage of over 40 hours of CPD educations and earn CPD points from four free-to-attend theatre programmes – the Royal Society of Chemistry Theatre, the Insights & Innovation Theatre, the Cleanroom Hub and Live Lab. My Green Lab is sponsoring the Insights and Innovations theatre at this year’s show, which will have a theme of Skills and Sustainability.

Keynote speakers this year include Dr Steve Rannard who holds a personal Chair at the University of Liverpool and science correspondent Alok Jha.

Steve Rannard, a leading industry expert in polymer sciences and nano solutions, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Director of the UoL Centre for Long-acting Therapeutics and currently Chief Technology Officer of Tandem Nano Ltd (UoL spinout) and Chief Scientific Advisor for Polymer Mimetic Ltd.

Currently working for The Economist Alok Jha has been science correspondent for ITN and The Guardian and presented TV and radio documentaries for the BBC. A science book author, he also spent a year as a Wellcome fellow developing story telling formats for complex topics.

实验室创新2022还将举办实验室奖活动,庆祝实验室行业的关键成就,奖项包括创新、可持续性、协作和包容,有机会或参赛者在多个领域展示他们的成就。

Once again, the show will be co-located with Advanced Engineering, which is supported by key industry associations such as ADS, the SMMT, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Composites UK, Make UK and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. This helps to promote cross-sector collaboration and continued innovation by the UK’s leading laboratory and engineering industries.

“As this is the ten year anniversary of Lab Innovations, we are really excited to show you what we have in store for this year,” explained Alison Willis, Director at Easyfairs. “As we get closer to the show, you can expect to see regular updates regarding the Lab Awards, special guests and other exciting features on our website. Whether you are looking to update your lab equipment or want to learn about the latest innovations in the lab industry, Lab Innovations is an event you can’t miss.”

Registration for Lab Innovations is now open.
